About the Claim

Philips is a global health technology company that manufactures sleep apnoea therapy devices. The company issued recalls in relation to the defects regarding their CPAP mechanical ventilators in Australia in 2021.

The affected sleep apnoea machines contained polyester-based polyurethane (PE-PUR) abatement foam which may degrade into particles and noxious gases which may enter the devices’ air pathway and be inhaled by the user.

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) states that the potential risks of particulate or chemical exposure include headache, dizziness, irritation (eyes, nose, respiratory tract, skin), inflammatory response, asthma, adverse effects to other organs (e.g. kidneys and liver), hypersensitivity, nausea, vomiting, toxic and carcinogenic effects. We have lodged and are running a Class Action against Philips for the adverse health side effects allegedly caused by the use of the defective products. GMP Law will fight for Maximum Compensation on behalf of the affected class.
